NASA World Wind Europa Challenge

GraphiTech’s team won the NASA World Wind Europa Challenge with the i-SCOPE application, which is going to serve to a wide European community. GraphiTech received the Europa Challenge crystal bull award during the award ceremony, which took place at the INSPIRE Conference 2014, in Aalborg (Denmark) on 17 June 2014.

The aim of NASA World Wind Europa Challenge is to inspire ideas for building great applications that serve the INSPIRE Directive and use NASA’s open source virtual globe technology World Wind.

i-SCOPE @ Zagreb Energy Week

The 5th Zagreb Energy Week was held from 12-17 May 2014 in Croatia. It was organized to show high level of mutual understanding and cooperation of all participants and to present the actual problems to the citizens, but also solutions to achieve some energy and financial savings and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

The i-SCOPE project was presented on 14 May, within the international conference “Sustainability is in our hands – global networking”. This conference was organized in cooperation with EUROCITIES network of capital European cities, which includes over 140 cities in over 30 European countries. Therefore, the representative of the Energy Cities, Mr. Gérard Magnin (Energy Cities Executive Director) attended the conference. The conference also attended Mrs. Maryke van Staden, Low-carbon City Program Manager at ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability, World Secretariat, and representatives of Croatian Covenant of Mayors Club, and the Covenant of mayors Capital Cities of Southeast Europe club.

i-SCOPE @ ISPRS TC/IV mid term symposium

The i-SCOPE project has been presented during the ISPRS mid term symposium at Suzhou in China (14-16 May 2014). The International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) is a non-governmental organization devoted to the development of international cooperation for the advancement of photogrammetry and remote sensing and their applications.

A paper entitled “Services Oriented Smart City Platform Based on 3D City Model Visualization” has been presented during the conference, and is included in the ISPRS Annals Volume II-4 2014.

i-SCOPE Barrier Survey - Ferrara

On 12 April 2014, the i-SCOPE project has organized a survey of the Architectural Barriers at Ferrara. Five teams of volunteers using the i-SCOPE mobile application have collected information on the historical centre of the city. The event has been organized in collaboration with partners Sinergis, Graphitech and the ARCI Ferrara who is also in charge for the organization of “Internazionale” festival. The teams were composed by the organizer and by students from the Faculty of Architecture, University of Ferrara.

The final aim of the survey is to deploy the routing services of i-SCOPE during the next “Internazionale” festival which is going to be held from 3-5 October 2014. (www.internazionale.it/festival).

Forum "“SMART CITY: ideas, technologies and proposals for smart cities of the future"

Last Saturday, April the 5th 2014, we attended the Forum “SMART CITY ideas, technologies and proposals for smart cities of the future" organized by the Rotary Club of Trentino - Alto Adige at the Muse of Trento.
An excellent opportunity to present the iSCOPE project and to discuss with partners and colleagues!
